A brand new ICT suite was officially opened in South Rise Primary School on Tuesday 6 May.
The £35,000 suite is equipped with 30 state-of-the-art computers, all with 19-inch flat screen monitors.
Pupils from all years, including nursery classes up to year-six, have already been benefiting from the new laser jet printer and curriculum server, which allows pupils to access and save their work on different machines.
Two new after-school clubs have been set up that allow children to further their ICT skills and also work for a magazine club.
Excellent new facility
Councillor Jackie Smith, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, attended the 700-pupil school on Brewery Road, Woolwich, to cut the ribbon and open the suite. She said:
"The new ICT Suite has proven invaluable to South Rise Primary School, and is an excellent new facility that will give a great deal of pupils access to the internet and other learning tools that they may not have at home.
"Teachers are already seeing a great improvement in pupils’ behaviour and the standard and quality of their work – with an exciting range of learning facilities available to every year in the school."
