Come and see details of the latest plans for the Kidbrooke Vision at an exhibition that opens this Wednesday.
The Vision outlines proposals for the £1bn regeneration of the Ferrier estate and the Kidbrooke neighbourhood over the next 15 years.
This includes plans for:
- more than 4,000 new homes
- up to 1,000 new jobs
- a new school
- over 50 hectares of green space
- a transport interchange
- new community facilities.
The latest plan incorporates the views of local households, businesses and groups who gave their feedback on the initial proposal during the first public consultation in November last year.
When and where is the exhibition?
The exhibition takes place at the new Kidbrooke Regeneration Project Office, formerly Meadowside Leisure Centre on Tudway Road.
Dates and times are:
- Wednesday 23 July from 3pm - 8pm
- Saturday 26 July from 10am - 4pm
- Wednesday 30 July from 9am - 5pm.
You will be able to see a model of the area, view a short film of the scheme and talk to members of the development team.
The multi-million plan is being led by Greenwich Council in partnership with developer Berkeley Homes and English Partnerships, the national regeneration agency.
Benefits for the local community
John Anderson, chairman at Berkeley Homes Urban Developments, said: "We are committed to producing a scheme that will not only benefit the immediate area and residents, but also learns the lessons of the past and connects to the wider area.
"We want to ensure the project provides real benefits for the local community, by creating a sustainable and intelligently designed community that supports local needs and activities.
"We look forward to continuing to work closely with residents, businesses and local groups and hope people will come along to the exhibition to view the revised proposals and see how they have evolved over recent months."
Ambitious development scheme
Deputy Council Leader and Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Cllr Peter Brooks said: "We are working closely with Berkeley Homes to ensure this scheme meets the needs of local people. The regeneration of Kidbrooke is one of the most ambitious development schemes we have ever had and we are at a really exciting point of the process because local people can now get a clear indication of the package of improvements and how they will benefit the area."
