Want to have dinner with Daley Thompson CBE and Pete Reed, British gold medallist in Beijing? The rower will join the former Olympic Champion and Decathlon world record holder at the next Greenwich Starting Blocks gala event.
Gold medallist Pete Reed, member of the Great Britain rowing squad, will be joining Daley Thompson at our gala evening on 17 September.
Pete has recently returned from Beijing having won Gold in the coxless fours event.
A champagne reception will open the evening's events, followed by a three-course meal, after-dinner speech by Daley Thompson, and the Greenwich Starting Blocks Awards.
To round off the evening, the The Mardi Gras Jazz Band will provide music for dancing.
By attending this charity event you will be helping local young athletes achieve their dream of competing in the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, share in the build up to 2012 and enjoy a fantastic evening with Daley and Pete.
When and where?
The event will take place at Charlton Athletic Football Club on Wednesday 17 September, starting at 7pm.
The date 17 September was chosen to mark the day the 2008 Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games end and London officially becomes the Olympic host city.
The evening will provide a perfect opportunity to discuss the recent events of Beijing while hearing about the achievements and hopes of Greenwich’s sporting hopefuls in the lead-up to the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games.

What is Greenwich Starting Blocks?
Greenwich Starting Blocks is a charity that aims to support local young athletes in the build-up to London 2012. As part of plans to raise funds, a number of exclusive dining evenings will be set up between now and 2012.
Daley Thompson follows in the footsteps of previous speakers - Ex-World Champion boxer Barry McGuigan and the former Olympic silver medallist swimmer, Sharron Davies MBE.
