Congratulations to local resident John Galloway who is the first prize winner in our Greenwich Reads short story competition.
Earlier in the year we invited budding writers over the age of 18, who live or work in the borough, to send in a short story of no more than 2000 words on a subject of their choice.
The stories were judged by Lindsey Davis - author of the Falco novels and resident in Greenwich, and Alex Bonham - Editor at Hodder & Stoughton.
Hodder and Stoughton is the publisher of our featured Greenwich Reads book, 'Brand New Friend', written by Mike Gayle.
The winning title
John Galloway's story 'The Sculptor of Woolwich' was announced as the winner during an Awards Ceremony at Charlton House on 2 October.
His prize is to spend a day with Alex Bonham at the Hodder & Stoughton offices where he will receive a critique of his work and a free lunch.
