The Deputy Mayor joins in at rehearsal
Deputy Mayor, Councillor Sajid Jawaid joined the borough’s favourite concert bands for a special rehearsal last Friday, 18 May. He joined the Royal Artillery Band and Belvedere Concert Band at Woolwich Barracks as they prepared for a joint concert at Charlton House on Saturday 23 June.
The ever-popular bands will be combining to perform an open-air Musical Spectacular, it will mark the 400th anniversary of Charlton House and help raise money for charity.
The beautiful grounds of Charlton House will be alive with the sound of music as the Jacobean mansion plays host to two celebratory performances – matinee and evening – featuring music from stage and screen, popular classics and a grand finale of the 1812 Overture.

The concerts will start at 2pm and 7.30pm and seating is non-allocated. A range of food and drinks will be available to purchase in the grounds for a pre-concert picnic.

Great achievement for the borough
Councillor Sajid said:
"I am delighted that we are celebrating Charlton House’s 400th anniversary with this event, and using these very special concerts to raise money for charity.
