Success for Crossrail campaign

Our campaign for a Woolwich Crossrail Station has achieved a huge success. The government has just announced that Woolwich will be reintroduced into the Bill.
Our recent campaign has involved us working closely with Berkeley Homes and Crossrail to ensure the inclusion of Woolwich into the Bill.

You can find out more about our Crossrail campaign in the travel and transport section.

Thank you for your support

Council Leader, Chris Roberts said: "I am delighted that our campaign which has garnered the support of so many businesses and residents has enabled Woolwich to be included in the Bill.

"Nothing can cement the regeneration of Woolwich more than the inclusion of a Crossrail station. The service would operate at 5 minutes intervals and place Woolwich just 7 minutes from Canary Wharf, 15 minutes from Tottenham Court Road and less than 45 minutes from Heathrow.

"I would like to thank all those who have lent us their support so far and pay a particular thanks to the Crossrail Select Committee for seeing the validity of our case and to the Secretary of State for allowing us the time to develop our case together with our partners at Berkeley Homes."

Regeneration

John Anderson, Berkeley Homes Urban Regeneration Projects Director said:
"Berkeley Homes is extremely pleased with the decision of the Secretary of State and has been working very closely with Greenwich Council over the last six months to find an economic solution to the delivery of a Crossrail station at Woolwich.

"There is still a lot of work to be done but I am sure that working in partnership Berkeley Homes, London Borough of Greenwich and Crossrail will be able to deliver a sustainable regeneration solution."
