Gender equality

We want to know what you think of our Draft Gender Equality Scheme.

From April 2007, the Council will have a legal responsibility to meet the new Gender Equality Duty. This means we will be required to:

  • Eliminate unlawful sex discrimination and harassment
  • Promote equality of opportunity between men and women.
This will apply to all of our activities, including service planning and delivery, and our role as an employer.

To make sure we meet our duty, we are developing a plan that sets out our priorities and actions for promoting equality for men, women, girls and boys in Greenwich over the next three years. This plan is called our Gender Equality Scheme.
