Fraudulent bailiff companies

If you are contacted by somebody who claims to be working for a bailiff, please be aware that a fraudulent bailiff company have been operating in the local area.

What do they say?

The men claim to be from Morecroft Collection Service and demand cash for outstanding parking tickets.

While Morecroft Collection Service is a legitimate Debt Collection company, they do not use or employ bailiffs for any of their work.

Who are these people?

The two fraudsters are known to operate under the names Mr Manjit and Mr Sims. They have already stolen £180 from one household by threatening to seize property and using a fake warrant.

One of the gentlemen is described as a young Asian man with a southeast London accent, wearing gold earrings and neck chains.

What should I do if they contact me?

Do not allow these people into your home. Call the police and tell them what has happened.

Where can I get help?

If you are concerned about fraudulent activity operating in your area, or have any information regarding this case, contact Consumer Direct on 08454 040506.

If you are in any doubt about money you may owe for a parking ticket or any other penalties, you can contact us using the number on the right. We will let you know your position and tell you if a bailiff has been authorised to operate on behalf of the Council.
