Want to learn about housing options? Join us at Woolwich Town Hall on Saturday 11 November between 11am and 3pm.
What's happening?
Council staff will be available to give practical one-to-one advice on:
- how to apply and bid for Council and Housing Association homes
- swapping homes with another tenant
- finding and paying for private rented housing
- low cost home buying
- other ways to move.
Information and advice will also be available on the following:
- housing benefits
- shared ownership schemes
- housing for the elderly
- housing options for disabled people
- moving to another area
- moving to a smaller home.
The event is free and open to everyone, including existing Council tenants. Free refreshments will be served and a creche and language line will be available.
Looking for a Council home?
If you are already registered on the Council housing waiting list, we will have computers available for you to access Greenwich Homes, our Choice Based Letting system that allows you to apply for a property online. Council officers will be on hand to talk you through the process as you use the system.
Don't forget, if you don’t have a computer at home, you can always use one for free in the neighbourhood housing offices, your local library or UK Online centre.
Direct access to help and advice
Cllr Peter Kotz, Cabinet Member for Housing and Neighbourhood Renewal says: "This is the first event of its kind in the borough. It’s an opportunity to have direct access to help and advice about housing, and to meet local housing staff all in one place and at one time without making an appointment.
"Housing officers will be on hand throughout the day to talk through a range of housing options – not all of them with the Council – and to show people, step-by-step, how to apply for housing in the borough."
