Grand opening at Gordon Primary

 
Gordon Primary School celebrated the opening of their new ICT Suite and Sports Hall by holding a special ceremony last Friday.
Pupils and their parents gathered on the school’s playing fields to enjoy live performances from the school band, dance performances, poetry recitals and many more live acts.

Hard work

Mayor of Greenwich, Councillor Harpinder Singh, attended the ceremony to unveil a special plaque and to declare the new buildings officially open.

Councillor Singh, said, 
 
"A lot of hard work has gone into Gordon School over the last year and pupils have really shown their appreciation with this wonderful ceremony."

Mr. John Mckinlay, Head teacher of Gordon Primary School, added,

"Everybody was delighted to have the Mayor of Greenwich come to our school to open the new buildings, and I’d like to thank Greenwich Council and Sports England for their contributions and support to this project."

Funding and expansion

The Council has invested £2.5million in refurnishments for the school, additional funding from Sports England paid for the new sports hall.

Due to the expansion of the school, it is now able to admit an additional 130 pupils.
