Pupils at Heronsgate Primary had a special visit from BBC London newsreader Asad Ahmad on 11 July. He came to hand out prizes at the school's annual awards ceremony.
Children were given certificates for making good progress over the year and behaving well at lunchtimes.
There was also an award for the School Council, a Young Enterprisers award and a Year Six award for those who had completed their primary education.
The presentation day opened with a song from more than 200 pupils, followed by speeches from head teacher Nick Prockter and Asad.
School achievements
The school was also presented with two awards for its achievements. Staff received the Inclusion Chartermark Award that acknowledges a school's success in including as many pupils as possible from the local community.
In addition, they were given the Investors in People Award for the second year. This is a business improvement tool that helps organisations to improve and reach objectives through the management and development of its people.
Great success
Councillor Jackie Smith, Cabinet member for Children’s Services, said,
"Heronsgate has had another successful school year and I hope that everyone is as proud as I am for what they have all achieved. The school wouldn’t be the success that it is without the support it gets from staff, parents, governors and the wider community."
Asad Ahmad, added,
"It’s great to see a school turn itself around the way this one has through the hard work of pupils, parents and staff. There’s a great atmosphere here and its very rewarding to be a part of this celebration."
