High praise for Eltham Hill

Eltham Hill Technology College for Girls was praised for its "outstanding" lessons during a visit from Ofsted last month.
Inspectors said the school, which provides secondary education for nearly 1000 girls, is providing a "good quality of education for its pupils". They also said it had "successfully instilled a strong ethos of respect for learning and positive relationships in pupils."

They emphasised how this has contributed toward students' "excellent spiritual, social and cultural development."

Setting targets

Special mention was made to the excellent procedures the school has in place for setting challenging targets, tracking pupils’ progress and raising their aspirations.

Pupils were described as being "safe and well cared for" and support for vulnerable pupils was described as "good". Pupils’ behaviour was marked as "very good".

Overall, Eltham Hill was ranked as "good" in most of the key areas including:

  • achievement and standards
  • personal development and well-being
  • teaching and learning
  • care and support
  • leadership.

Excellent report

Headteacher Marjorie Findlay-Stone said:

"Students at Eltham Hill know that the very highest standards are expected of them and they have risen to these expectations.

"This excellent report is also a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff and support of our school governors and parents."

Well respected school

Cllr Jackie Smith, Greenwich Council Cabinet Member for Education, said:

"Eltham Hill is a well respected and highly regarded school which deserves this excellent report. I would like to offer my congratulations to the Headteacher, staff, students and governors."
