If you're going out partying this Christmas, please be aware of your personal safety and make sure you plan your journey home.
Here are some simple measures you can take to ensure that you have a safe Christmas holiday.
Getting home safely
If you are going out on the town with friends, you could decide on a designated non-drinking driver.
Otherwise, you should:
- Plan how you will get home before you go out.
- Book a licensed taxi or plan a journey on public transport.
- Use Transport for London’ s Cabwise service to ensure that your taxi is from a licensed firm.

Find a licensed cab company
If you are worried about finding a licensed cab, Transport for London (TfL) has launched a text message service called Cabwise. Just text the word HOME to 60835 and you will be sent the telephone numbers of your two nearest licensed minicab operators directly to your mobile.
Visit the Transport for London website for more information on the Cabwise service.
Have fun and stay safe
Here are some extra safety tips to help you enjoy your night:
- eat properly before drinking alcohol.
- pace yourself with water, or a soft drink, after every alcoholic drink
- be aware of your surroundings and of using a mobile phone in crowded areas.
- use your phone’s security lock code or PIN number and don’t leave the phone lying on tables, or in unattended bags or coats.
