A recent publication of Key Stage 2 results shows steady improvements in the core subjects of English, Maths and Science at primary schools across the borough.
The results mean that Greenwich has moved up the national rankings for pupils attaining Level 4+ (the expected level) and Level 5 (exceeding the expected level) in these subjects.
Value added measure
Greenwich also outstripped the national average on the value added measure, which tracks the progress that pupils make during their time at school.
Greenwich was ranked 15th out of 150 local authorities in England on its value added measure.
Making good progress
Cllr Jackie Smith, Greenwich Council Cabinet Member for Children and Young People’s Services, said:
"I am extremely pleased that the hard work put in by staff and pupils at our primary schools is paying off. These results prove that children make good progress at Greenwich primary schools.
"There has been a promising improvement over the past three years, and we are committed to sustaining our efforts to build on our successes and ensure that our rate of progress continues."
