Tourism conference boost for Greenwich

Greenwich played host to the National Tourist Information Conference at the Royal Naval College last Tuesday, 28 March.
It was the first time the annual conference has been held in London for more than 20 years. It was a great boost for the tourist trade that is worth over £400million to the local economy every year.

Awards

Over the last nine years Greenwich Council has twice won the award for having the best tourist information centre in London. There are more than 600,000 visitors to borough’s information centre every year.

A feather in the cap

Francis Dolan, director for strategic planning, said:

"The fact that Greenwich was chosen to host this prestigious conference is a real feather in the cap.

"Those who attended the conference were really impressed with what the borough has to offer. I hope that many of them will be back on personal visits and that they’ll really spread the word about Greenwich.

"It reinforces the message to people in the tourist industry that Greenwich has a lot to shout about. I hope even more people come to find out what a unique place Greenwich is over the months to come."
