What would make Woolwich Common cleaner, safer and greener?
The Council is launching a scheme to spruce up the Herbert Road area and your help is needed.
Have your say!
Come along to Notre Dame School in Eglinton Road on February 22 and tell us what improvements you would like to see. Doors will be open from 4pm to 6pm.
We welcome the views of all local residents, groups and businesses.
There will be further panels around the neighbourhood in the coming months. The council will then use the feedback to develop a strategy.
Liveability
The scheme is part of the Government-funded Liveability pilot. The aim is to reduce crime and tackle poor quality environments that encourage problems such as litter and graffiti.
The Herbert Road area is one of four areas in Greenwich that are included in the pilot, and already work has started in the Eynsham neighbourhood in Abbey Wood.
Children are leading the way
The launch will include the unveiling of a mural produced by children at Notre Dame School. The mural has an environmental theme and is made entirely from recycled materials.
The school will also be presented with the Eco School Silver award for environmental work the children have done around the area.
Looking forward to the benefits
Councillor Vicky Morse, cabinet member for culture and community, said: “The people in Eynsham are already seeing the benefit of this scheme and we are looking forward to see the same happening around Herbert Road.
“But this is not a case of us telling people what improvements should be made. This launch event will give us the chance to listen to people and find out what they would like to see us do.”
