Ofsted praise for three Greenwich primary schools

Government inspectors have praised three Greenwich primary schools in their latest round of Ofsted inspections.

Meridian

Meridian Primary School, Greenwich, was described as a good school where pupils make good progress both in learning and personal development.

Compared to similar schools, it was ranked as being well above average in English and Science and above average in Maths.

Hawksmoor

Hawksmoor Primary School, Thamesmead, was described as ‘good’ and ‘rapidly improving’, where pupils’ personal qualities developed well.  This leads to good behaviour and good attitudes to learning.

Morden Mount

Morden Mount Primary School, Greenwich was described as a ‘good school which does its utmost to help every pupil succeed.’  Inspectors noted the improvements made since the last inspection and the way the school provided for each individual pupil’s needs.

Also recognised were the contributions the school makes to the wider community.

Raising standards in primary schools

Cllr David Grant, Greenwich Council Cabinet Member for Education, said:

“All our primary schools are making great strides in raising standards and I’m glad that inspections are recognising this.  Staff have been working hard to ensure that we give children in Greenwich the best start in life and that they are well prepared to go on to secondary school.”
