Cutty Sark Gardens is a picturesque open space which is ideal as a filming location and for hosting small and large public events. It is NOT suitable for private events such as weddings.

Applying for permission

All activities and events taking place in Cutty Sark Gardens require permission from the Council. Please note that there is strictly no vehicle access, parking, trading or collection of monies allowed in Cutty Sark Gardens without the express permission of the Council. Fees

Commercial organisations may be charged up to £1,000 per day (plus electricity) for use of the gardens. However, the fee may be waived for community groups.

For filming charges please contact the Film Unit.

The application process

If your proposal is accepted you will be required to:

  1. complete and sign a user agreement (sent to you if your proposal is accepted)
  2. forward a copy of your public liability insurance certificate (the minimum cover needed is £5m)
  3. carry out a risk assessment to identify possible hazards created by your activities and detail these, and the methods you will use to avoid them, on a Risk Assessment Form (PDF 29kb) which must be signed and returned to the officer in charge
  4. mark the location(s) of your event in Cutty Sark Gardens on the site map (PDF 380kb)
  5. return these documents to:

Granting permission

On receipt of all satisfactory information, you will be issued an Events Permit to confirm your booking.
