Womens Football

Football clubs are thriving in Greenwich. Our local team is Charlton Athletic Football Club, whose women's team has been outstandingly successful.

The club runs The Addicks community scheme, one of the biggest and best in the country. It also organises summer courses for youngsters between the ages of five to 15 years old.

Alfa Football Foundation provides football coaching skills for ethnic women and girls and boys. Members meet Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Meeting times are 4.30pm to 5.45pm during the school term and 2.30pm to 4.30pm during school holidays.

The club is currently recruiting players for a Minority Greenwich under-16 girls' team.

Junior Reds are a Football Association Charter Standard Development Club that operates 20 teams in junior and adult football.

The club has 26 qualified coaches (12 for junior specifically) and 18 unqualified coaches/helpers. It has a Child Protection policy and an Equal Opportunities policy.

It has one Girls Under 13 team. Several new mini soccer Under 7 - 10 teams are being formed for 2008/9 season.

Teams train in many locations throughout South East London. Matches are played on Sundays at grounds in

  • Shooters Hill, SE18
  • Eltham Green School SE9
  • Coldharbour Leisure Centre, Mottingham
  • and many other venues.
The club has players in the local league.

A Saturday Soccer Club (for 5 to 12 year olds) also operates on a casual "pay and play" (£4 per session) basis. All abilities are welcome.
