Womens Football

Football clubs are thriving in Greenwich. Our local team is Charlton Athletic Football Club, whose women's team has been outstandingly successful.

The club runs The Addicks community scheme, one of the biggest and best in the country. It also organises summer courses for youngsters between the ages of five to 15 years old.

You can also just turn up and play or book a pitch for games. Find out about football pitches in Greenwich.

Alfa Football Foundation provides football coaching skills for ethnic women and girls and boys. Members meet Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Meeting times are 4.30pm to 5.45pm during the school term and 2.30pm to 4.30pm during school holidays.

The club is currently recruiting players for a Minority Greenwich under-16 girls' team.

Junior Reds are a Football Association Charter Standard Development Club that operates 22 teams from under 6 to adults.

In 2008 the Club wwere Development Winners for South East England.

The Club has 25 qualified coaches. It has a Child Protection policy and an Equal Opportunities policy.

Players of all abilities are welcome as the emphasis is on child development. New teams including a Girls section are being formed for 2009.

Teams train in many locations throughout South East London. Matches are played on Sundays at local grounds including:

  • London Marathon Playing Fields, Shooters Hill, SE18
  • Eltham Green School SE9
  • Coldharbour Leisure Centre, Mottingham
  • Charlton Park 
  • and many other South East London venues 
A Saturday Soccer Club (for 5 to 12 year olds) also operates on a casual "pay and play" (£4 per session) basis. All abilities are welcome.

The club does not currently cater for disabled people.
