Marathon runners can now turn their attention to the next big community running event, which will take place in Greenwich on Sunday, October 5.
The inaugural Run to the Beat half marathon starts and finishes at The O2 and is officially full, but Greenwich Council has 200 places reserved for local runners.
All you have to do is to guarantee to raise £150 for Greenwich Council's 'Starting Blocks' charity which provides bursaries for young athletes with their sights set on competing for Britain in the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
How to enter
Anyone interested in running for Starting Blocks in the Run to the Beat half marathon should send their name and address to:
Run to the Beat
Greenwich Council Communications
Town Hall
Wellington Street

or email runtothebeat@greenwich.gov.uk
Runners must be aged over 18, should live, work or study in the borough and will need to pay their own £30 entry fee. We will then contact you with details on how to enter.
Musicians along the route
Run to the Beat is a unique event as it will also be a musical celebration with competitors and spectators treated to top musical talents along the route.
City Showcase, the not-for-profit company that promotes new talent, will be providing musicians to play at 15 music stations along the route of London's only half-marathon.
The event has already attracted 10,000 runners from across the country but the Greenwich entries are there to be claimed.
'A lot of excitement'
Cllr John Fahy, cabinet member for sport, culture and the Olympics, said: "Run to the Beat has also created a lot of excitement as London's first half-marathon and the musical side to it makes it that much more enjoyable for all concerned.
"It's reckoned that music can inspire athletes to improve their performance by as much as 20 per cent. I think I'd need a little bit more than that but I'm really looking forward to an event that will be unique for runners and spectators alike."
