Activities and workshops for Key Stages 2 and 3 for a range of subjects
Based next to the River Thames and the Thames Barrier, the Thames Barrier Learning Centre offers school packages that are fun and interactive, based around environmental issues.
Packages on offer range from river walks and pond dipping, to role-play games such as ‘River of Life’.
School groups
We offer a number of different half-day packages to suit most learning needs.
Activities and workshops follow the National Curriculum for Key Stages 2 and 3 for a range of subjects including science and geography.
You can combine any half-day activity with a second activity to make it a full day.
All activities last an hour and a half.
We can run sessions for a maximum of 30 children. Children need to be school years 3-8 (age 7-12).

Holiday activities
During the school holidays we offer a range of fun activities with an environmental theme. Any children aged 3 to 12 are welcome. Please call us to find out more details and to book a place.
Facilities
Facilities at the Learning Centre include:
- Two fully equipped classrooms
- A 160-seat auditorium
- Free coach car parking for pre-booked groups to our centre
Overlooking the Thames, with spectacular views of the Barrier, our café offers a range of hot and cold drinks, snacks and lunches. The café operates a reduced service in winter.
There is also an outside picnic area and children's play area.
