From the west (and north) by car

From the Blackwall Tunnel (A12/A102) take the A206 to Woolwich.

When you reach the Woolwich Ferry round-a-bout go straight across (A206 sign posted for Plumstead) and along Woolwich High street. Go straight across the next round-a-bout (A206 Beresford St).

After a few hundred metres on the left the Royal Arsenal site begins. Take the slip road off Plumstead Rd (A206) on the left into Arsenal Way.

Turn left into Duke of Wellington Ave and left at the end (just before the barrier to pedestrian area) into the car park (opposite Cartridge Place).

Museum Visitor Parking is in the centre of the car park. Make sure the vehicle is parked within designated bays and displays a temporary parking permit (available in advance from the Heritage Centre or from our Reception on the day of your visit) otherwise the vehicle may be clamped.

Diversion notice: from the west

Part of Duke of Wellington Avenue is closed at the moment.

Access to the car park from the western end of the Royal Arsenal site is via Warren Lane.

Enter through Warren Lane Gate, go through the gate into the pedestrian area , go straight ahead and through a further gate then turn right into the visitors' car park.

From the south by car

Take the A205 to Woolwich Ferry round-a-bout and turn right into Woolwich High St (A206) and follow directions as above.

From the east by car

From Plumstead bridge (Plumstead railway station on the left) (A206) take the right hand lane and follow the road (Pettman Crescent) around Plumstead Bus garage.

Take the first left into Tom Cribb Road. Follow the road and go straight across a small round-a-bout and continue into the Royal Arsenal Site. Follow Duke of Wellington Avenue to the end and follow directions as above.

Diversion notice: from the east

Part of Duke of Wellington Avenue is closed, and there will be a slight diversion.

From Duke of Wellington Avenue turn right into Carriage Street, then left into Hopton Road, left into Chatham Close.

Turn left into Cartridge Place, going through the barrier across Duke of Wellington Avenue and into the visitors' car park straight ahead.

Directions from car park

When parked, make your way out of the car park on foot and head towards the river. The main entrance to the Heritage Centre is on the far corner of Artillery Square.

Please note there are additional car parks in Woolwich Town Centre.

Disabled Parking

Go to the main entrance on Plumstead Road as above and take Arsenal Way to the junction with Duke of Wellington Ave.

Turn left into Duke of Wellington Avenue and follow the road until you reach the barrier at the junction with Cartridge Place.

Turn Right towards the River. At the barrier press the button for assistance and ask to be let through to the disabled parking for the Heritage Centre. Once through the barrier bear to the left past James Clavell Square then right into No 1 Street.

Turn left at the end and then left again by the side of the Heritage Centre building.

The Disabled parking bays are about 100m further up on the right.

The Heritage Centre main entrance is at the front of the building on the left past the flower beds.

Please note blue disabled badges must be displayed otherwise the vehicle will be clamped. (There is additional disabled parking in the Museum and Visitor Car Park).

Buses to Woolwich: Routes 51, 96, 99,122, 161, 177 ,180, 244, 380, 422, 469, 472

Trains to Woolwich Arsenal station from London Bridge, Charing Cross and Cannon St

Tube: Jubilee line to North Greenwich then buses 161, 472 to Woolwich

Walking from Woolwich Arsenal Station

Turn right out of the station and follow Woolwich New Road to Plumstead Road (signs for Firepower and Heritage Centre).

Cross by the pedestrian crossing, go through the gate to the Royal Arsenal and follow No 1 Street towards the river. The Heritage centre is on the left in the far corner of Artillery Square.
