Eltham Palace
The palace was a popular winter home for the royals from 1305 until 1526.
Only the Great Hall, completed in the reign of Edward IV in 1482, survives.
A sliding Chinese style screen leads from the Great Hall into the house built between 1933-37 for Sir Stephen Courtauld. The elegant style is an outstanding example of the architecture of the period.
The mix of medieval and modern design features is also typical of the whole site.
