Background of The O2
Britain's Millennium celebrations were held in this vast tented structure, located on the Peninsula to the North of Greenwich. It was designed by Richard Rogers, a British architect noted for his functionalist and modernist design.
Originally named the Millennium Dome, The O2 was relaunched in June 2007 as a top music and entertainment venue.
It will be one of the key venues for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

- The O2 arena - a 23,000-seat world-class music and sporting venue with acoustics designed specifically for modern musicians
- The IndigO2 - a cosy music venue where viewers can get up close with their favourite performers
- Exhibition centre - two levels of exhibition space will feature a mix displays and themed exhibitions throughout the year
- Entertainment Avenue - as wide and long as New Bond Street, this indoor shopping street has retail outlets, bars and restaurants, an 11-screen cinema and a beach.

Tourism and regeneration
