Flexible arrangements

Flexible arrangements for free early education sessions mean you can spread your 15 hours entitlement over 3 days or more. This may help if you are working or studying.

For example, if you want to work or study for three days a week you will be able to find childcare in large blocks of time.

The arrangements can also include lunchtimes.

Questions about flexible hours

I already get free early education, how will it change?

If your child already receives free early education it is likely that you can continue to use the same pattern of care. Your provider will tell you what they are doing to extend the hours available.

Can I use childcare in addition to the free early education sessions?

Yes, many childcare options are available although you will be charged for any additional hours or services.

Search for childcare using the Children's Services Directory.

Is it possible to use the 15 hours at more than one early education provider?

Yes, you can use up to two providers for up to a maximum of 15 hours per week. You will be asked to sign a declartion that you are not receiving more than the entitlement for your child.

If one of the providers is a nursery class of a school, this setting will be prioritised to receive the early education funding. Most nursery classes in schools offer 12.5 hours per week for 38 weeks a year.
