Childminders
A registered childminder is someone who uses their home to care for children for more than two hours a day. They work throughout the year, not just during term time, and they provide full-time or part-time flexible care, which can include things like taking and collecting children from playgroup, nursery or school.
Many childminders care for school-age children before and after school, and during holidays.
Cost
This is a private arrangement between you and the childminder. Childminders charge different amounts, depending on the amount of childcare you need.
Age range
Childminders are registered to care for children from birth to eight years old. Many also care for children aged eight years and over.
