School Action Plus

School Action Plus (also known as Early Years Action Plus in a pre-school setting) is similar to School Action. A child will continue to have an Individual Education Plan (IEP) but the school may also draw on specialist services for advice or direct help.

For example, advice may be sought from the school's educational psychologist. The school may also use other support services, such as peripatetic specialist teachers, depending on the nature of the child's difficulties and the expertise already available amongst the school staff.

IEP review

The progress of a child at Early Years Action Plus / School Action Plus is reviewed in the same way as a child at School Action. The review will consider whether the IEP is working to help the child make progress, whether it needs to carry on if good progress has been made, or whether something else is needed.

The school may request a statutory assessment if it is considered that the child has not made sufficient progress and if s/he meets the criteria for an assessment.
