Work experience allows you to learn about the world of work before you leave school, and to develop the employability skills that you will need in the workplace.
Your school will provide you with all the information you need, so you should contact your school's work experience coordinator if you have any questions.
Finding your own placement
However, there's nothing to stop you finding your own work placement, so if you have a personal contact at a local business or organisation who is willing to take you on, tell your school's work experience coordinator, who will help you set up the placement.
Note that for reasons such as health and safety compliance and insurance cover, any placement you find must be approved by your school.
Work experience placements are available from the start of year ten.
