Choosing a secondary school

Before completing the common application form, it is recommended that you visit Greenwich schools to see for yourself what secondary education will mean for your child and to find out the opportunities that are available.

You may find it helpful to:

  • Prepare questions to ask staff in secondary schools to find out what they can offer your child.

  • Visit the schools you are interested in and obtain copies of school prospectuses, the governors’ annual report and examination results during your visit.

  • Consult the achievement and attainment tables published by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF).

View performance tables on the DCFS website.

  • Read the school’s Ofsted report.

    Go to the Ofsted website.

  • Consider the admission policies of the schools to decide whether your child has a good chance of being offered a place.

  • Meet with your child’s primary headteacher to discuss your options.

  • Seek advice from other professionals who know your child, for example an educational psychologist.
Visiting times for secondary schools in Greenwich are given under each school’s individual entry in the secondary schools admission booklet.
