In-year admissions

If you have recently moved into the area and are looking for a school place for your child, please use the relevant admissions booklet to decide on your preferred school(s).

You can then contact the Council’s Admissions Section, using the details on the right, who will be able to advise you of the availability of places and how to apply.

Application forms

The following forms should be used for in-year applications.

To view these documents you will require Adobe Acrobat, this can be downloaded via the link on the right.
You will also need to provide proof of your child's address at the time of application. The address to be taken into account will be where your child resides as their only or principal residence.

Acceptable proof is a current Council tax letter/statement AND a HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) letter, confirming that you are in receipt of Child Benefit or Child Tax Credits at the address given on your application form.

Fair access

A Fair Access Protocol exists to ensure that children without a school place, especially the most vulnerable, are offered a place at an appropriate school as quickly as possible. Children without a school place take priority over children wishing to transfer from another school.

Although every effort will be made to meet your wishes, it might not be possible to offer a place to your child at one of your preferred schools. It may be necessary to allocate a place where an appropriate vacancy exists. If a place is not offered at a preferred school you have the right of appeal.
