National Year of Reading

National Year of Reading logo
The National Year of Reading is a year-long celebration of reading that aims to build a greater passion for books across England.
There are always opportunities to read - at home, at work, while you're commuting. The National Year of Reading wants to encourage you to read more.

Why not make the most of the resources available this year and set yourself a reading challenge, whether it's on your own, with your family or with other members of your local community.

Go to the 2008 National Year of Reading website to take a reading challenge.

Events and special offers

To help and encourage you, local libraries have put together a programme of activities and special offers throughout the coming year.

We will also be interviewing authors and local people about their reading habits.

Follow the links on the left to find out more.
