Man Booker Prize 2008 longlist
Now in its fortieth year, the Man Booker prize aims to reward the best novel of the year written by a citizen of the Commonwealth or Republic of Ireland.
The 13 titles longlisted for the Man Booker Prize 2008 have been announced. They are:
The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga
Girl in a Blue Dress by Gaynor Arnold
The Secret Scripture by Sebastian Barry
From A to X by John Berger
The Lost Dog by Michelle de Krester
Sea of Poppies by Amitav Ghosh
The Clothes on their Backs by Linda Grant
A Case of Exploding Mangoes by Mohammed Hanif
The Northern Clemency by Philip Hensher
Netherland by Joseph O'Neill
The Enchantress of Florence by Salman Rushdie
Child 44 by Tom Rob Smith
A Fraction of the Whole by Steve Toltz
All titles are available from Greenwich libraries.
The shortlist will be announced on 9 September and the winner on 14 October 2008.

Richard and Judy Summer Reads 2008
Richard and Judy have announced the eight summer reading selections for their TV book club.
The selected titles are:

East of the Sun by Julia Gregson
Down River by John Hart
The Pirate's Daughter by Margaret Cezair-Thompson
The Private Lives of Pippa Lee by Rebecca Miller

The Resurrectionist by James Bradley
All eight books are available from Greenwich libraries and borrowers will also have a chance to vote for their favourite book, either by using a special voting card (available from your local library) or online on the
Channel 4 website
before 15 August 2008.
