Interested in becoming a Learning Champion?

You can become one if you:

  • are over 18
  • live or work (paid or unpaid) in Greenwich borough
  • often meet people and enjoy talking to them
  • like helping people to help themselves
  • have a little time to spare.

What's in it for you?

You will:

  • help your local community
  • become a better friend, workmate or neighbour
  • gain free training with a qualification employers will value
  • get careers advice
  • enjoy support from other Greenwich Community Learning Champions
  • get better work and personal prospects
  • gain new skills
  • have a say in local adult education.

When, where and how long is the training?

The training course is run by Greenwich Community College, and was written specially for us by the Community Education Development Centre. We usually run two courses each year, starting in October.  Locations, days and times vary depending on what suits the majority of people training. Course lengths vary, but it’s usually two terms (one session each week). Then you spend some time producing a folder of work for assessment. We provide all your course materials (paper, folders, disposable cameras, etc) and pay your travel expenses to and from College.

Will I be paid for being a Greenwich Community Learning Champion?

No, because Greenwich Community Learning Champions are volunteers.  However, if you are a Champion, you can claim expenses for money you have spent during your volunteering.
