Recognising dyslexia in adults 

 

The following are all indicators of dyslexia in adults:

  • slow reading and the need to re-read several times before understanding
  • misreading small words
  • missing out lines and confusing similar words
  • making spelling mistakes
  • fear in giving or receiving complicated instructions
  • problems with personal organisation
  • difficulty planning and writing essays
  • trouble with short-term, rather than long-term, memory
  • poor confidence and low self-esteem.
