Buying your garage or loft
If you would like to buy a garage that you rent from the Council or the loft space above your flat, the Council may consider selling it to you subject to certain conditions.
Garages
The Council may consider selling you your garage, but but the following conditions will apply:
The sale of the garage must be approved by your Neighbourhood Housing Office.
A valuer will be asked to decide a price for the garage.
Once the price has been agreed, the final decision on the sale will be made at the next Council meeting.
If the sale of the garage is agreed, a transfer of ownership will be made.

Lofts
The Council may consider selling the loft area above your flat, but the following conditions will apply:
The sale of the space must be approved by your Neighbourhood Housing Office.
A valuer will be asked to decide a price for the sale.
Once the price has been agreed, the final decision on the sale will be made at the next directors panel meeting.
If the sale is agreed, a lease will be completed.
If you want to convert the loft into a living space, you must send plans to the Council and apply for a licence for alterations. You will also need to consult with the building control and planning departments.
