Private landlords
As a landlord you are responsible for keeping your property in good order for your tenants. The council expects you to meet your responsibilities and has powers to take action against those landlords that fail to do so.
However, the council recognises that in some cases it is appropriate to give private landlords some financial help towards carrying out repairs and improvements.
Empty properties
Grants are available to owners of long-term empty properties that need repairs and improvements and where the owner intends to let the property for at least five years after the work has been carried out.
How much is available?
For owners of empty properties grants of up to £20,000 are available.
Owners will be expected to carry out all the work necessary to bring their property up to
'decent homes' standard
and meet the cost of any of the work not covered by the grant.
How do I apply?
Contact us and we will post you an enquiry form. Once you have completed and returned the form we will let you know if you qualify.
