Visiting Community Housing Services
When you come to the Community Housing Services department, take a numbered ticket from the machine situated just inside the main entrance doors. Your number will be called when a member of the reception staff is available to deal with your enquiries. You can check your estimated waiting time on the visual display in reception.
A reception officer will take your details and decide whether to make a referral to another agency or to complete an 'initial homeless assessment form' and refer you to an officer for a full assessment.
If you are referred to an assessment officer, they ask you about your circumstances and make a decision as to what level of duty the council owes you, if any. The same officer will usually deal with your case from start to finish and will keep you informed of the progress on your application. To ensure enquiries on your case can be made quickly make sure you bring the correct
