FAQ
I am unemployed or on a low income. Can I get help paying my rent?
If you are on a low income you may be eligible for
housing benefit
to help with your rent. You can make a claim if you are a council tenant, rent privately owned accommodation or live in a housing association property.
If you own a property you may be able to get help with your interest payments on your mortgage by applying for income support.
Full details are available in the
Benefits and Grants
section of the website.
