Appeals

An appeals system works to ensure that applicants with more urgent housing need can be considered and receive appropriate priority.

If you have been rejected as a priority candidate for housing, and you feel the decision is wrong, you have the right of review. We ask you to put your reasons in writing within 21 days of the decision, full details of how to do this will be in the letter we send you.

The review will be carried out by a senior manager who has been involved in your assessment. As part of this process you can of course obtain free legal advice from a law centre or citizens advice bureau.

If you are still unhappy with our decision after your review has been considered you can make an appeal to the county court on a point of law.

For more information, please ask for a copy of our leaflet on the housing appeals system.
