Low-cost schemes
Who qualifies for low-cost schemes?
To qualify you must be able to get a mortgage or have enough savings to buy a home. To cover a mortgage we usually suggest you have an income of at least £18,000 a year. However, your income should not be so high that you could afford to buy a home without help.
You will receive higher priority if you are:
a council or housing association tenant
on the waiting list for council housing
a key worker
already living or working in the borough.
How much will it cost?
The cost of these schemes varies depending on the value of the home you buy and, in the case of shared ownership, the size of the share you buy.
You will need at access to around £4,000 to pay for legal fees, valuation fees, survey fees etc.
