How we can help

The Housing Aid Centre can give advice and assistance if you are:

Looking for accommodation

Housing advisors give advice on finding accommodation with a private landlord, and sometimes can find hostel places for single homeless people.

Clients have access to a free telephone to call private landlords and agents about properties to let.

Private landlords sometimes advertise their properties in the Housing Aid Centre. We have a scheme to offer a deposit guarantee to a landlord, in certain cases. (The landlord has to agree to this).

Seeking advice as a private owner or tenant

We give advice to private tenants on rents, evictions, security of tenure and disrepair, and we can represent tenants at hearings and assist with housing benefit applications.

Homeowners - We can help homeowners who are in mortgage arrears, negotiating with lenders, and representing clients at possession hearings at the County Court. We can give basic advice about leasehold problems.

Private landlords - The Housing Aid Centre aims to work with private landlords to improve conditions in the private rented sector. Regular landlord forums are held in order to share information and ideas about how to achieve this.
