Tenancy Relations Officers deal with disputes between private tenants and their landlords, mostly in cases of harassment and illegal eviction.
We investigate complaints and try to resolve them informally. If necessary, we can bring prosecutions against the landlord under the Council's powers. We can help tenants who have been unlawfully evicted to get back into their property.
In addition we investigate cases of racial and other equalities harassment in the private sector and can provide help and support to victims.
