Our Community Sensory Services Team can put blind or partially sighted people in in touch with the Council's relevant service teams and other support and advice organisations.
The services that our Community Sensory Services Team can help you access include:
Mobility and travelling
The team helps to advise people how to travel independently and safely, making best use of their sight and using specialist equipment if necessary.
Skills training
Skills training helps people who have sight problems to continue living independently by developing strategies and skills to cope with different tasks in their homes.
Low vision training
Low vision training helps people find out which types of magnifiers or lighting are useful, and explains how to get the most out of the equipment that is available.
Travel
People who are registered blind or partially sighted with Greenwich Council are eligible for a disabled person's Freedom Pass. This allows free travel on public transport throughout London with only a few restrictions.
Blind people can also register with the taxicard scheme.
