Low vision aids

Poor vision for detail can often be improved with the use of low vision aids to provide task lighting and magnification.

Vision aids include simple hand lenses, stand magnifiers, illuminated magnifiers, spectacle-mounted lenses and mini-telescopes for distance reading.

If you are using a hospital eye service, you may be assessed by an optometrist and issued with a magnifier.

However, if you need further advice and information about using low vision aids effectively, contact the Community Sensory Services team using the details on the right.
