Equipment

There is a lot of equipment that can be useful for people who are deaf or hard of hearing.

The Council's Community Sensory Services team can assess your equipment needs, provide equipment for people in need, or help you find the right supplier.

Council equipment

The team can help you with:

  • advice and information on equipment for deaf and hard of hearing people
  • an assessment of your equipment and adaptation needs by a technical officer
  • supply and installation of equipment including flashing light doorbell units, textphones (minicoms), induction loops, personal amplifiers and baby alarms.
The Council has also produced a DVD and video to help people with hearing difficulties access local services. Find out more about the DVD and video and how you can obtain a copy.

Online shopping for equipment

The RNID online shopping facility offers catalogues and price information on a wide range of equipment, from telephone amplifiers to alarms and alerts.

For more information about equipment, please contact the Community Services team using the details on the right.
