Opening: The Major with a Metro Centre staff volunteer
The Metro Centre, Greenwich's resource for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people, has now opened its brand new offices in Norman House, West Greenwich.
The official launch party on Friday 1 February had a great turn out with funders, volunteers, staff, supporters and members of other local charity groups in attendance.
The Mayor, Councillor Sajiv Jawaid, gave a short speech and praised the organisation for its hard work in supporting the local LGBT community.
Services to the community
Services that the Centre provide include:
- mental health
- youth
- HIV prevention
- outreach & community development services.
It also provides a space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender people, and those questioning their sexuality, to meet and get to know each other.
Creating partnerships
Metro Centre Chief Executive, Marguerite McLaughlin said: "The Metro Centre is very proud of the dynamic working partnership with Greenwich Council and Greenwich TPCT, in fact the Metro has been associated with the Council for 25 years now. We are going from strength to strength, creating new community partnerships."
