Do I have to pay for services?
This will depend on your individual financial circumstances.
During your assessment you will be asked about your financial circumstances and the benefits you receive. In order to maximise your income and depending on your individual circumstances, the worker may refer you on to other agencies for a range of benefits.
The worker will also refer you to the Community Care Finance Team to complete a financial assessment. They will calculate and advise you of how much you will need to pay towards the cost of your care.

Can I arrange my own services?
Direct Payments
are cash payments available to people who have been assessed as needing community care services. They are made so that individuals can arrange and purchase their own services instead of services being arranged on their behalf.
To qualify, you must have been considered by social services as being willing and able to manage the payments yourself (with assistance if necessary).
It may not be possible to arrange for Direct Payments on discharge but this will be arranged as soon as possible thereafter.
