Three people near the Dome, one is a wheelchair user

If an illness, disability, accident or frailty means you have difficulty carrying out everyday activities, the Community Occupational Therapy Service may be able to help.

Who we can help

We can work with you if you are eligible for community care services from the Council, and you have a permanent and substantial disability.

If you think that you need our service, then find out how to apply.

How we can help

The Occupational Therapy service can support you in becoming more independent at home.

We can:

  • assess your individual needs
  • help you to regain skills that you have lost because of illness or disability
  • identify equipment and home adaptations to help you with everday activities
  • advise your carer(s) on how best to assist you
  • assess and address your carer's needs

Who we work closely with

In order to provide the best possible service, we work closely with:

  • other council services, such as care management and housing
  • professional carers
  • local health services
  • voluntary agencies.
