Your responsibilities
The direct payments scheme places control over the money and the provision of services in the hands of the individual. This means you will have to take on a number of responsibilities, including:
Having a separate bank or building society account
Recruiting and employing workers
Organising and managing your own workers
Making sure relatives are not employed as carers
Keeping financial records and submitting returns to the council for monitoring
Ensuring direct payments are only used for the services they are intended for
More information
Download the information leaflet on
Direct Payments
for details on how they can help you live more independently.
