In this section of the site you can find information on how to arrange your own care services.
We also have advice on paying for your services, and financial assistance from the Council.
Advice on arranging your own services
We have a range of advice for older and disabled people on arranging your own care.
We can advise on care services that are used by the Council, and how to ensure that you get the best service possible.
Paying for your care
Payments from the Council
The Council can make payments to you if we know that you need community care services.
You must use these payments, which are known as direct payments, to arrange and purchase your own care services.
Direct payments are only available to people who are eligible for community care services from the Council. Find out more about who we provide community care services for.
Other sources of financial help
If you are not eligible for care services from the Council, then you will have to pay for your own care services.
If you don't have a large income, there may be sources of financial help available to you. See our benefits and grants section for further information.
Alternatives to care
There are many free and low-cost alternatives to paying for your own care services, many of which are available on your doorstep.
If you need health services, there are many public services that you can use. See our health and medical care section for further information.
If you're looking for activities during the day, you may like to think about joining in with some of the organised activities in your local area. See our activities and clubs section for further details.
We also have a range of ideas on activities and services for older people in Greenwich.
